Introduction: Basic Components of a Computer
CPU- This Term Stands for Central Processing Unit. It’s responsible for handling the operations and instructions on your computer.
Motherboard- This is basically the circuit board of the computer. It contains a variety of components that the CPU, memory, video card and Hard drive connect to.
Memory. Are basically sticks of modules that fit into the motherboard. It used to temporary store information, data or programs.
CD Rom/DVD Drive- used for listening/playing multi-media, and installing applications
HDD- Hard Disk Drive is responsible for the storage on the computer. The operating system and programs you install on this component is stored on here.
FDD- Floppy Disk Drive. is used for floppy disks that stores small bits of information on it. In more modern Computer this device is excluded
Video Card – Is a graphics card that handles the images and videos displayed on your computer screen. Video Cards are usually used for more demanding purposes such as video editing and gaming purposes.
Power Supply- The Power Supply responsibility is to provide power to the components that are installed in the computer. If you had additional components to add inside your computer you would attach your device to this for power.
Peripherals – Can be Described as external components that attach to your computer.
